Privacy
Your files stay yours.

No uploads, ever
Real PDF Editor runs entirely in your web browser. When you open a PDF, it is read and edited locally on your device using your browser's built-in capabilities. The file is never transmitted to us or any server. There is no backend that receives, stores, or processes your documents.
No accounts, no tracking of content
We don't require an account, email address, or payment. We never see the contents of your documents, the text you add, or the signatures you draw. When you close or refresh the tab, anything you were working on is gone from memory.
Local storage
To hand a file from the homepage to the editor, we may briefly store it in your browser's local IndexedDB. It is removed as soon as the editor reads it and never leaves your machine.
Analytics & cookies
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used in aggregate — for example, which pages are visited and roughly which country and device type — so we can improve the tool. To do this, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes that usage data on our behalf. You can read how Google handles it in Google's Privacy & Terms.
Crucially, this analytics only measures site usage. It never has access to the contents of your PDFs — your files are opened and edited entirely on your device and are never uploaded, so there is nothing for any analytics to see. We don't sell your data, and you can block analytics cookies at any time with your browser settings, a tracker blocker, or Google's opt-out add-on.
Questions
This is a free tool built to be genuinely private. If anything here is unclear, the short version is: your documents never leave your device.
